Well you know Mother's Day is approaching when Boyzone present another bland offering, the wonder is they didn't call it a day after Stephen's tragic death, given that they were playing to half empty stadiums on their last tour.
But I guess the other four couldn't resist the opportunity to cash in on their band mate's death, sad.

5 out of 5 stars At Last . . .   March 11, 2010

After many years of 'putting up' with Boyzone, with the many concerts I have attended with my girlfriend, I can honestly say that I love this album.

At last we are hearing new voices. This new sound is what I have been waiting for.

I admit that I really do like a handful of their previous songs, but each time I listen to this album I just cannot hear a song that I dislike.

Its just a shame about the circumstances that may of led to this.

But this is great work, lets keep it going. I may actually look forward to the next concert now :)

REVIEW Song by Song:

* 1. Gave It All Away (5 stars)
Beautiful vocals and very poignant lyrics by Stephen Gately. His voice never fails to lift you up.

* 2. Love Is A Hurricane (2 stars)
Sounds a bit like a cheap version of Life is a rollercoaster.

* 3. Ruby (3 stars)
Interesting to hear Mikey Grahams vocals, but a shame that someone had to die before he was allowed to sing. A welcome change to Ronans voice though, but don't expect it be be as outstandingly good as Stephens vocals.

* 4. Too Late For Hallelujah (3 stars)
Sounds a bit like Greatest Day by Take That, but this song has really melancholic and bitter lyrics.

* 5. Separate Cars (2 stars)
A song about the breaking up of a relationship. Ronan Keating on lead vocals. Sadly he fails to hit the high notes.

* 6. One More Song (3 stars)
A song clearly dedicated to the late Stephen Gately. Sadly without any ups and downs. A bonus point for the lyrics.

* 7. Right Here Waiting (1 star)
A very dull song.

* 8. Nothing Without You (4 stars)
Quite a good rock ballad.

* 9. 'Til The Sun Goes Down (2 stars)
Another rock ballad, just not quite as good

* 10. Time (2 star)
Another very dull rock ballad.

* 11. Let Your Wall Fall Down (4 stars)
A gospel choir gives this song the edge.

* 12. Stronger (4 stars)
A very soft song. The second song on this album that features Gately and his warm and uplifting vocals. And he clearly out sings Keating, who opens the song.

Overall the album clearly lacks the amazing and uplifting vocals of Stephen Gately. Most of it sounds either like a Ronan Keating album or a Take That copycat album. I don't know why Ronan Keating goes on and on in interviews that there are no ballads on this album. Clearly Gave it all away, Ruby, Separate Cars, Right Here Waiting, Nothing Without You, 'Til the sun goes down, Stronger are ballads or rock ballads. Quite a lot of the songs sound a bit "samey". Would have loved them to mix a few pop songs into it. And I don't get it why it took Boyzone 2 years to finish this album and then they have only 2 songs with Stephen's vocals on it? Looks like they didn't put much effort into it while he was still around and then rushed to finish the product after he left.

5 out of 5 stars Extremely moving but beautiful   March 9, 2010

I have been anticipating this album ever since Boyzone first got back together. Back then all I and the other fans had was total excitement at the thought of new material. After the tragic loss of Stephen this album was always going to be a totally different experience, both for the Boyz and for the listener.

Having Gave It All Away as the opening track was the right choice, and sums up the old Boyzone, from then on the other Boyz are left to fend on their own and they do extremely well. Far less ballads than we are used to with Boyzone albums, almost every song has an up tempo beat. Love Is A Hurricane is a belter, the fact that Mikey has lead vocals on a couple of tracks is fantastic and even Shane sings solo at one point!!

One of the highlights is One More Song, perfectly placed in the middle of the album as if to remind us why this album was recorded. The lyrics are beautiful, such as "without your voice, it's just not a song." This is a real tear-jerker and just makes you realise (as if you needed reminding) how loved Steo was. The ending of the song is particularly poignient, with the lyrics leaving us in no doubt who they are singing about.

Let Your Wall Fall Down has a fantastic choir at the beginning which was a real surprise, and the album closes with Stronger, the only other track that the Boyz had with Stephen's vocals on. To say this song is haunting would be an understatement, and it brings the album full circle - they start it as a five piece, and they end it as one. Stephen's absence on the majority of this album is heartbreaking, but I know he would be so, so happy with his bandmates and best friends for producing a truely great album. They have done him proud and I, as a fan since nine years old, am truely proud to call myself a fan of this brilliant group and their remarkable album. I urge anyone to buy it.
